Mediterranean Life
The reason people buy on this stretch of coast is not the house. It is the hour after lunch.
The lagoon
The Langebaan lagoon is sixteen kilometres of shallow, protected, almost unnaturally blue water. It is warm enough to swim in from October, flat enough to paddle across, and windy enough in the afternoon that the kite and wing crowd have made it their home.
Around it: the West Coast National Park, the flower season, the oyster and mussel farms, and a village that still empties out on a Tuesday. This is the Mediterranean without the flight.
